Casement Windows have a hinge at the side and crank out to open.	Awning Windows have a hinge at the top and open outward.	Double Hung Windows open by sliding one sash vertically past another.

Gliding Windows open by sliding one sash horizontally past the other.	Picture & Transom windows are stationary windows designed to match double-hung or casement windows.	Specialty Windows are stationary windows with curved shapes or angles other than 90°.
